A Celebration of Harvest, Family, and Gratitude
Nuakhai, celebrated a day after Ganesh Chaturthi, marks the consumption of the season’s newly harvested rice crop (Nabanna). After offering the first grains to local deities—most notably Maa Samaleswari in Sambalpur—families gather to share meals, seek blessings from elders through the tradition of Nuakhai Juhar, and celebrate community solidarity.
