In a significant step towards deeper coordination between neighbouring states, Odisha’s Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Krushna Chandra Patra, is on a two-day official visit to Kolkata.
This afternoon, Minister Patra held detailed discussions with his West Bengal counterpart, Ashok Kirtania, at the Food Bhawan in Kolkata. The meeting focused on protecting the interests of both states through better coordination in key sectors, with special attention on ensuring smooth supply of essential commodities.
West Bengal Minister Ashok Kirtania gave a clear assurance that the supply chain of critical items like potatoes would be maintained without disruption. He pledged to take all necessary steps in this direction and confirmed that full cooperation between the two states would continue. Importantly, he stated that the step-motherly attitude shown by the previous government towards Odisha in the food supplies sector would not be repeated.
Minister Kirtania also showered high praise on the Odisha government for its extensive work in various public welfare schemes.
Both ministers agreed that their respective governments are committed to safeguarding the interests of the common people while actively taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development-oriented programmes.
During the visit, Minister Patra also held meetings with several other dignitaries and officials in Kolkata.
