Bhubaneswar: Pandemonium occurred in the Odisha Assembly on Saturday as the Speaker adjourned the house time and again to maintain tranquility.
While the opposition members from BJP and Congress created furore over Mandi issue, the BJD members demanded that BJP MLA Subas Panigrahi should tender apologies for trying to commit suicide inside the House.
Chief Whip Pramila Mallik said that Panigrahi must tender apologies as it was his blunder to attempt suicide over issues in state. One has to find out solution to problem and added that suicide can never be a solution, Mallik said. She said Panigrahi must make a categorical statement on the issue if it was his own decision to attempt suicide inside the House or his party’s.
Deputy Chief Whip Rohit Pujari, MLAs Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Priti Ranjan Ghadai and Pranab Prakash Das stormed into the well of the House and protested in front of Speaker Surya Narayan Patra’s chair.
The Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro had to adjourn the House for several times and usual proceedings were affected.
