In a pioneering move to bridge the gender gap in technology, Odisha’s Higher Education Department and Edunet Foundation today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will equip thousands of girl students with cutting-edge skills in Artificial Intelligence and allied fields.
Under the partnership, which also brings in technical support from Microsoft, female students studying in Odisha’s colleges and universities will receive specialised training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Python Programming, and Data Analytics. The comprehensive 240-hour program includes hands-on capstone projects, industry mentorship, internship opportunities, and direct pathways to employment.
A dedicated module titled “Career Opportunities for Women in Artificial Intelligence” has been designed exclusively to boost confidence and open high-growth career doors for young women. Upon successful completion, participants will receive joint certificates from Edunet Foundation and Microsoft.
The initiative aims to train approximately 1,000 girl students every year, creating a powerful pipeline of tech-ready talent from the state.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said, “National Education Policy 2020 lays strong emphasis on skill development and exposure to modern technology. Today’s MoU is a focused step to empower our girl students in AI and emerging technologies so they can not only excel academically but also secure promising careers. We are committed to making Odisha a leader in women-led innovation.”
The event was attended by Higher Education Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Arvind Agrawal, Edunet Foundation Director Ashish Arora, Additional Secretary Pratibha Sahu, Joint Secretary Mousumi Nayak, and other senior officials.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Odisha’s journey toward inclusive digital empowerment and positions the state as a frontrunner in gender-equitable tech education.
