Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, chaired the high-level Ministerial Programme at the 10th India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026.
Centred around the theme “Scale Without Boundaries: Investing in the Next Billion Digital Connections,” the session brought together international ministers, telecommunications leaders, and global organisation heads to deliberate on expanding meaningful digital access.
Addressing the global gathering, Scindia emphasised that scaling connectivity is fundamentally about expanding human opportunity. He noted that while connecting the final billion people will be challenging, they will inject transformative energy into the global digital economy as new learners, creators, and entrepreneurs.
Highlighting India’s success in driving affordable digital access, the Minister stated that geography or income should never act as a barrier to advancement as the world progresses toward 5G-Advanced, 6G, satellite networks, and artificial intelligence.
The programme featured robust deliberations alongside global figures, including Estonia’s Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Japan’s Vice-Minister Hideo Fuseda, ITU Telecommunication Standardisation Bureau Director Seizo Onoe, and GSMA Foundation President John Giusti.
Participants concurred on the necessity of robust regulatory frameworks, sustained investments, and international partnerships to build resilient networks and bridge the digital divide towards 2030.
