Novak Djokovic defied age and delivered a marathon victory by defeating Félix Auger-Aliassime in a five-set thriller lasting five hours and 15 minutes.
The Serbian won 7-6 (12-10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (7-4), 7-6 (10-4) to reach his 15th Wimbledon semi-final, the most by any player.
At 39 years old, Djokovic became the oldest Wimbledon semi-finalist in 52 years, surpassing Jimmy Connors and joining Ken Rosewall among the legends who achieved this milestone. He also became the third-oldest men’s singles Grand Slam semi-finalist behind Rosewall and Ricardo Alonso González.
Djokovic’s achievement adds another chapter to his historic career. He has now reached the last four at Wimbledon for the eighth consecutive time. His consistency places him alongside Federer and Nadal, who dominated other Grand Slams with similar records.
The Serbian will face World No.1 Jannik Sinner in a blockbuster semi-final. Their clash marks the second time this year they meet in a major semi-final, following Djokovic’s win at the Australian Open. He now chases his 25th Grand Slam title and aims to equal Federer’s record for most Wimbledon men’s singles championships.
Djokovic’s Wimbledon semi-final record highlights his resilience and longevity. His ability to compete at the highest level at 39 underscores his unmatched determination. If he wins the title, he will become the most decorated singles player in history, surpassing Margaret Court’s tally.
