Arnav Paparkar produced the biggest victory of his career by defeating world No. 3 Keaton Hance 6-2, 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon boys’ singles third round.
Ranked 19 in the junior world rankings, Paparkar dominated from the start, breaking twice in the opening set and maintaining control throughout the second. The match ended in just over an hour, marking his career-best Wimbledon performance.
Paparkar’s serving proved decisive. He fired six aces, saved all six breakpoints, and conceded only 18 points on serve. His tactical preparation also paid off. He studied Hance’s first-round match and exploited his struggles when forced wide. After the win, Paparkar said he felt “very proud” and acknowledged the progress he has made in his journey.
This upset carries major significance for Indian junior tennis. Victories over top-three ranked juniors at Grand Slam events remain rare for Indian players, making Paparkar’s triumph a milestone. The result elevates his profile as a serious contender on the junior circuit and inspires emerging Indian talent by showing that global competitiveness is within reach.
