The Kataka District Administration has imposed a ban on videography and public gatherings on river embankments and barrages following a surge in water levels across major rivers.
District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde issued the directive during a flood‑review meeting, warning that strict action will be taken against anyone crowding or filming near vulnerable structures. Police have been instructed to enforce the order immediately.
Shinde cautioned that water may enter low‑lying areas of Aathgarh, Badamba, Banki, Niali and Mahanga, and advised residents of Aathgarh, Banki and Kataka city riverbank zones to stay in flood shelters for at least 48 hours.
The Collector confirmed that three vehicle drivers standing on Naraj Barrage were fined for violating safety norms. He also announced restrictions on Baliyatra Ground access due to rising water levels.
Emergency teams from Fire Services, ODRAF and NDRF are stationed in flood‑affected villages, ensuring safe drinking water and relief supplies reach residents.
Shinde reiterated that public safety remains the top priority, urging citizens to avoid risky areas and cooperate with authorities until the flood situation stabilises.
