Bhubaneswar: In view of sharp decline in Covid-19 cases in last few months, the State Government on Saturday repealed ‘Odisha Covid-19 Regulations-2020’ which imposed certain restrictions like mass congregation, public movement without mask, spitting in public places.
“In view of the substantial decline of Covid-19 cases in the State over the past several months, the government after careful consideration have been pleased to repealed ‘the Odisha Covid-19 regulations, 2020 as amended from time to time, with immediate effect,” a notification issued by the Health And Family Welfare department read.
The government, however, advised people to follow Covid appropriate behavior voluntarily and when found necessary, the notification added.
On March 18, the Government had issued ‘The Odisha COVID-19 Regulations, 2020’. These regulations were valid for a year. However, it had been extended from time to time due to the pandemic situation.
As per the precautionary measures, the government had taken slew of measures to contain the outbreak of the corona virus as part of regulations.
Measures to avoid public gathering and crowd included closure of commercial establishments, suspension of vehicular services, lockdown in severely affected districts.
In March, 2020, the Odisha Government had declared the global outbreak of Covid-19 as the State disaster.
