A critically ill patient from Kenalguda village near Malkangiri district headquarters had to be carried on a cot for one kilometre through muddy, broken roads after an ambulance got stuck.
Despite its proximity, the village still lacks a proper road, forcing residents into dire situations, especially during the monsoon.
As per reports, Adma Kabasi (48) fell critically ill on Sunday. His family called an ambulance, which arrived on time but got stuck nearly 1 km away due to the muddy, broken stretch. With no other option, villagers carried the patient on a cot through the slushy road to reach the ambulance. He was later shifted to the district medical hospital.
Locals allege repeated appeals for road construction have been ignored by the administration. They argue that if such neglect exists so close to the district HQ, conditions in remote areas must be far worse.
Frustrated villagers have now urged authorities and local representatives to act immediately. They warned that if the road issue is not resolved soon, they may boycott the upcoming Panchayat elections.
