The Orissa High Court has granted conditional bail to former Brahmapur MLA Bikram Panda in connection with the murder of lawyer Pitabas Panda.
Earlier, the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Brahmapur, had rejected Panda’s bail plea. Following this, he approached the High Court, which allowed his petition.
Pitabas Panda was shot dead on October 6, 2025, near his residence while returning home at around 10 pm. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to police, Bikram Panda and former Brahmapur Municipal Corporation Mayor Pintu Das were identified as the main conspirators behind the killing, allegedly driven by political, personal, and financial motives.
