Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik condemned the Odisha government for what he described as a breakdown of law and order, saying the state now faces “a terrifying picture of anarchy.”
Patnaik posted on X that Odisha is witnessing “gundaraj” instead of governance under the BJP. He referred to a brutal assault in Berhampur, where a man and a woman were beaten publicly, calling the act “inhuman and horrifying.” He said the visuals have shocked and disturbed people across the state.
Patnaik alleged that criminals act fearlessly while the police remain ineffective. He questioned the administration’s silence and asked, “Where is the law? Where is the police?” He said the BJP government has handed Odisha over to criminals and failed to protect citizens.
He added that the government celebrates events while neglecting public safety. “How long will Odisha continue to suffer humiliation?” he asked, urging authorities to ensure security for ordinary people instead of indulging in publicity.
Patnaik demanded strict action against the culprits and called for immediate steps to restore order. He said Odisha’s deteriorating law and order has drawn national criticism and urged the government to stop shielding offenders.
