Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took part in the Chhath Puja celebrations held at Nua Bali Jatra Ground, Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. Joining devotees in offering Arghya (prayers) to the Sun God, the Chief Minister prayed for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of all people in the state.

Strengthening Cultural Unity and Harmony

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that the Odisha Government is committed to strengthening the values of brotherhood, harmony, and cultural unity. He added that Chhath Puja stands as a beautiful example of this unity in diversity, which enriches the state’s cultural fabric.

Chief Minister Majhi was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Priyanka Mandi, who also participated in the rituals. The couple performed all traditional rites and offered prayers to the Sun God for the welfare of the people of Odisha.

Chhath Puja: A Celebration of Nature and Devotion

Highlighting the spiritual message of Chhath, the Chief Minister said that the festival reminds people that nature, water, air, and sunlight form the true essence of life. Through this worship, devotees express gratitude to nature and the environment, acknowledging their vital role in human existence.

“Chhath teaches us discipline, purity, and devotion,” the Chief Minister said. “It is a festival that celebrates simplicity and sincerity rather than show or luxury. Its core values—cleanliness, order, and faith—are what make it truly unique.”

Odisha Embracing the Spirit of Chhath Puja

The Chief Minister expressed happiness that Chhath Puja, traditionally celebrated in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, is now observed with equal enthusiasm and devotion across Odisha. He said this reflects the state’s inclusive spirit and growing cultural harmony.

Wishes for Prosperity and Progress

Concluding his address, Chief Minister Majhi extended his warm wishes to all citizens, saying:

“May Odisha continue to progress on the path of development. May our farmers, workers, youth, and women become stronger, and may every home be filled with happiness and light.”

Dignitaries Present

Several prominent personalities attended the ceremony, including Vishwas Foundation President Rajkumar, Vice President Ajay Bahadur Singh, General Secretary Ashok Bhagat, and Bihar Vikas Parishad Coordinator Anand Mohan, among others.
