In a significant relief to farmers across Odisha, the state Cabinet has clarified that registration under the Agristack farmers’ registry has no connection with the Paddy Procurement Automation System (PPAS).

The decision came during the 46th meeting of the State Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg briefed the media after the meeting, stating that the Cabinet thoroughly examined media reports claiming farmers were facing difficulties in Agristack registration, which in turn was affecting their ability to register for paddy procurement under PPAS.

“The Cabinet has taken note of these concerns and discussed the matter in detail. It is clarified that Agristack registration is not linked with PPAS registration for paddy procurement. Farmers need not worry about their paddy procurement on account of their Agristack farmers’ registry status. Their registration in the PPAS system will proceed this year in the same manner as the previous year,” the official statement said.

The Cabinet approved a total of 10 proposals from six departments. These included two each from the Electronics and Information Technology Department, Energy Department, Water Resources Department, and Women and Child Development Department, along with one each from the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department (related to Agristack) and the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.

The clarification is expected to ease anxiety among farmers as the paddy procurement season approaches. Officials have reiterated that the process for registering in PPAS remains unchanged from last year, ensuring smooth operations for cultivators across the state.
