As many as seven people were injured in an accident at Xavier Square in Bhubaneswar Saturday evening.
According to sources, At around 4 pm, a speeding car rammed a pick-up van on its rear at Xavier Square causing the vehicle to collide with another autorickshaw carrying passengers and another four-wheeler vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the car that struck multiple vehicles was in an inebriated condition.
Tensions flared at the scene when locals attempted to take the accused driver from the custody of police officers. The crowd demanded compensation for the injured, leading to a minor scuffle between the locals and the police.
The commotion continued for nearly two hours and gradually the crowd dispersed following which vehicular movement resumed partially.
