Cuttack: Several migratory birds were found dead at a village in Banki area, triggering panic over the possibility of the bird flu outbreak in the area.
According to sources, the matter came to light after the locals of Gada village spotted the carcass of around half a dozen of Ruddy Shelducks lying on farmlands adjacent to the village. They immediately informed the matter to the snake helpline members, who then reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
The rescue team then seized the bird carcasses.
Though the exact reason behind the bird mortality could not be confirmed, snake helpline members have urged the Khurda Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) to launch a probe into the matter.
Meanwhile, the incident triggered panic among the locals as they feared the possibility of the bird flu outbreak in the area.
