Manas Murder Case: Sarmistha’s Mobile Phone, Diary Recovered From City Apartment

Bhubaneswar: Several crucial documents, a diary and the prime accused of Manas Swain murder case, Sarmistha Rout’s mobile phone from Sky Tower apartment in Bhubaneswar have been recovered by Crime Branch on Saturday.

During a search operation undertaken in the afternoon, the sleuths found the mobile phone, concealed in a lumber-room. The officials have also found Sarmistha’s diary which contains some important notes related to Sharmista, Sampoona Web Channel and many more has been seized from plot No. 204 in Sky Tower under the Airfield police limit.

According to sources, a team of the Crime Branch initiated a search operation today, in order to find out the microchip, which is suspected to be the prime reason behind the killing of Manas Swain.

Following this, the mobile and other documents were seized by the Crime Branch officials. However, what the diary exactly contains relating to the Manas murder case is so far been discovered.

“Several crucial documents and office items from Sarmistha’s Bhubaneswar Sky Tower flat have reportedly gone missing. It is suspected that Sarmistha’s sister-in-law who had been staying at the flat for the past few days had decamped with the papers and belongings.’ an official said.

The Crime Branch had taken four accused persons Sarmistha, Jhuna Bhoi, Niranjan, and Raj on a five-day remand in connection with cameraman Manas Swain’s murder case. As their five-day remand ends today they will be produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Chandbali on Sunday.

According to the Crime Branch, Sarmistha Friday has confessed to the crime during sustained interrogation by its special team.
