Cuttack: Police arrested a man in Cuttack for allegedly duping job aspirants on the pretext of providing them employment in government sectors.

The arrestee has been identified as Balaram Behera(36) alias Bubu of Binjharpur in Jajpur, currently living at Bhimpur under Airport police station limits in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, the matter came to the fore after one Soumyendra Nath Sarangi lodge a complaint with the local police station regarding the forgery.

According to available information, last year  Soumyendra met Bubu at Mahanadi Vihar and introduced himself as transport in-charge of the railway department. A few days later, Bubu called Soumyendra informing him about the vacant post of an engineer at the Lokseva Bhawan, and asked him to give him Rs 2 lakhs for the job.

Soumyendra agreed and transferred Rs 2.60 lakh to Bubu’s account in four installments. Thereafter, Soumyendra waited for the offer letter. However, even after several months, he did not get any official letter.

After a year he tried to contact Bubu but his number remained switched off.  Following this, Soumyendra went to Mahanadi vihar but Bubu had left his rented room. With no option left, in February, Soumyendra lodged a complaint with the local police station.

After pertinent efforts, police managed to nab Bubu from Bhubaneswar. The cops also recovered fake ID cards and appointment letters from his possession.

As per sources, there are several pending cases against the accused in different police stations.
