Malkangiri: Malkangiri Police on Friday seized eight quintals of ganja and arrested four smugglers at Govindpalli bus stand here during night patrolling.
The seized cannabis consignment, estimated to worth around Rs 60 lakh, was being smuggled in two Bolero pick-up vans and one motorcycle. The cannabis was packed in polythene bags, police said.
The vehicles, motorcycle, mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs 3,000 were seized during the raid, police said.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Malkangiri SDPO Anshuman Dwivedi said the arrested smugglers are Samesh Hantar (21), Jayaram Muduli (34), Raju Nayak (21) and Babula Pahalam (30).
The arrested persons belong to Malkangiri and Koraput districts, Dwivedy said and added that they have been forwarded to court on Friday.
