Lakshya Sen made history in Paris by becoming the first Indian man to reach the semi-finals at the Olympics.
The 22-year-old shuttler achieved a remarkable come-from-behind victory over Taiwan’s 12th seed Chou Tien Chen at the Paris Games, igniting the Indian spectators in the crowded badminton arena.
Displaying remarkable resilience, Lakshya Sen rallied from a first-game loss to triumph over Chou Tien Chen with scores of 19-21, 21-15, 21-12 in an intense battle lasting an hour and 15 minutes.
His next challenge is the winner of the quarter-final match between the current Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark and Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew.
Just one victory away from securing a medal in his debut Olympic appearance, Lakshya Sen, the shuttler from Almora, is the sole Indian hope remaining in badminton at the Paris Games. This comes after gold medal hopefuls Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were ousted in the men’s doubles quarter-finals, and two-time medalist PV Sindhu exited in the women’s singles Round of 16.
