Keonjhar: Panic gripped the locals of Puruna Bandhagoda village in Keonjhar district after a wild bear allegedly attacked humans here.
As per available reports, the bear had entered the village from the nearby Barang reserve forest under Anandapur Wildlife Division of the district.
On being intimated, forest personnel reached the spot to shoo the animal away from the human habitat.
However, the bear, enraged by the sticks and burning firecrackers, pounced on the people present at the spot and mauled the motorcycle of local forest guard Abinash Parida before dragging it into the forest.
Besides, it also destroyed the items kept outside a shop in the village.
As per the last reports, another team of forest officials have reached the village and observing the bear’s movement.
