Katrina Kaif has become the subject of social media commentary over her postpartum appearance, months after welcoming her first child with actor Vicky Kaushal.
The actor and Kaushal were recently photographed during a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Mumbai. Images and videos from the event triggered a wave of comments about Katrina’s weight and appearance, with some social media users comparing her current look with photographs from earlier in her career.
Some comments also questioned whether her changed appearance could affect her acting career.
Support pours in for Katrina
The online discussion also prompted many users to defend Katrina and criticise the focus on her postpartum body.
Supporters pointed out that Katrina became a mother in November 2025 and that postpartum recovery does not follow a fixed timeline. One fan urged people to allow new mothers to recover without judging their bodies.
Beauty influencer and mother Tarini Peshawaria also spoke about the pressure women face to return to their pre-pregnancy bodies soon after childbirth.
Sharing her own experience, she said that she struggled with weight even two to two-and-a-half years after giving birth. She praised Katrina for embracing her changed appearance instead of allowing social media expectations to dictate how she should look.
Kay Beauty reportedly reaches Rs 350 crore
Amid the conversation around Katrina’s appearance, her business achievements have also drawn attention.
According to an Indian Express report cited by NDTV, Katrina Kaif’s beauty brand Kay Beauty grew from Rs 240 crore in FY25 to Rs 350 crore in FY26, representing an increase of about 46%.
The brand has also expanded beyond India, with a launch in the UK and plans to strengthen its presence in the Middle East.
The growth comes as Kay Beauty continues to build its position in India’s competitive beauty and cosmetics market.
Katrina Kaif’s career spans more than two decades
Katrina made her acting debut with Boom in 2003 and went on to establish a career spanning more than two decades in Hindi cinema.
She has appeared in films including Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, New York, Rajneeti, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Ek Tha Tiger, Dhoom 3, Tiger Zinda Hai and Merry Christmas, among others.
She also co-founded Kay Beauty, making entrepreneurship an important part of her professional profile.
Postpartum bodies and social media scrutiny
Katrina’s experience highlights a broader conversation around how quickly women, particularly public figures, are expected to return to their pre-pregnancy appearance.
Postpartum recovery can vary significantly from person to person. Yet social media comparisons often reduce that process to changes in weight or appearance.
In Katrina’s case, the online discussion about her body has unfolded alongside the continued growth of her business, showing how a celebrity’s professional identity can extend well beyond appearance.
For now, the actor has not publicly responded to the trolling, while Kay Beauty continues its reported expansion in domestic and international markets.
