A 35-year-old man, Tuna Nag from Bhaliapadar village, died in a road accident in Kantamal, in Boudh district, leaving the local area in deep mourning.
The fatal mishap triggered intense anger among family members and villagers over growing road safety concerns.
Demanding adequate financial compensation for the grieving family and strict action against those responsible, protestors staged a massive road blockade in front of the Kantamal hospital.
The two-hour demonstration severely disrupted vehicular movement along the route, halting traffic on both sides. Upon receiving information, local police rushed to the scene and initiated discussions with the protestors to restore order.
The incident has renewed public anxiety regarding frequent road accidents in the region. Locals have strongly urged the administration to strictly enforce traffic rules, enhance road safety measures, and take decisive steps to curb reckless driving on rural stretches.
