The official trailer for director Rahul Sankrityan’s highly anticipated period action spectacle Ranabaali was released on Thursday evening, offering a grand glimpse into 19th-century colonial resistance.
Starring Vijay Deverakonda in the titular role alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, the nearly four-minute trailer details a heroic uprising against a British-manufactured famine in South India during the 1870s.
A Tale of Mythic Destiny and Colonial Oppression
The trailer opens with a traditional folk performance narrating the legend of Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, born in a secluded cave and prophesied for historical greatness.
As colonial authorities force the villagers into brutal labor while orchestrating artificial food shortages, Ranabaali rises as a regional protector. Facing off against the ruthless British officer Sir Theodore Hector—played by The Mummy star Arnold Vosloo—Ranabaali leads a war for survival to shield his people.
Romantic Respite and Pan-India Release
Interspersed with gritty battle sequences and high-octane action is a playful domestic arc involving Ranabaali and his wife, Jayamma, played by Rashmika Mandanna.
”Stories preserved through generations, living on in folklore. Now, we bring them to the BIGGEST SCREENS across THE WORLD. The history that shaped us. The Indian men we descend from,” the makers announced upon releasing the trailer.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series with a musical score composed by duo Ajay-Atul, Ranabaali is set for a Pan-India theatrical release on October 16, 2026, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
