Police arrested twelve people, including a minor girl, for their involvement in the murder of a 19-year-old youth in Nabarangpur district.
The victim, identified as Gourang Majhi of Udit Narayanpur village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits, went missing on April 4 after visiting Panimunda village. His family searched extensively but failed to trace him. They later lodged a complaint at Narla police station.
On April 7, villagers discovered Gourang’s body inside an abandoned well in Panimunda. His father, Dinabandhu Majhi, accused several individuals of killing his son over a love affair and dumping the body in the well. Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the probe, officers confirmed that Gourang was murdered. They arrested twelve accused, including the minor girlfriend, her two brothers, and brother-in-law Ranjan Majhi. The police produced all the accused in court after completing formalities.
Investigators said the murder stemmed from a dispute linked to Gourang’s relationship with the minor girl.
