Bhubaneswar: The officials of Odisha Vigilance Department conducted simultaneous raids at six locations linked to block-level assistant executive engineer on Tuesday over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets (DA).
The assistant engineer, identified as Biswanath Patra, is posted in Jeypore block and is also responsible for municipal engineering duties. The simultaneous raids were carried out by the Vigilance sleuths at multiple locations spread across Jeypore, Ganjam, and Bhubaneswar.
A three-storey house in Jeypore, a two-storey building in Koli Sahi, Bellaguntha, Ganjam district, chambers at the Jeypore Block Office and at the Jeypore Municipality Office, along with a relative’s house in Niladri Vihar of Bhubaneswar are among the locations reported to have been raided by Vigilance authorities.
Sources mentioned that several important documents including bank passbooks, property papers, and income slips have been seized and being investigated upon.
The raid involved a dedicated team comprising an Additional Superintendent of Police (SP), two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), eight Inspectors, and six Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) from the Vigilance department.
Till the last reports came in, investigations are currently underway, and exact details of the alleged disproportionate assets have not been disclosed yet.
