A serious road accident in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, has triggered widespread outrage after five people were injured when an SUV allegedly driven by Dinesh Lodhi rammed into them.

According to police, Dinesh Lodhi—son of BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi—was driving a Mahindra Thar in the Karera area on Thursday evening when the incident occurred.

How the Incident Unfolded

Police reports indicate that the SUV first collided with a motorcycle carrying three individuals—Sanjay, Ashish, and Anshul Parihar—who were travelling towards Dhanra village.

Moments later, the vehicle also struck two women, Sita Verma and Pooja Soni, who were walking along the roadside.

All five victims sustained injuries, with one reported to be in serious condition. Local residents rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Viral Video Shows Heated Exchange

A video from the scene has gone viral on social media, showing Dinesh Lodhi arguing with bystanders.

In the clip, he is heard saying, “I was using the siren and honking, why didn’t they move?”, appearing to blame the victims for the accident.

The footage has intensified public anger and raised concerns about road safety, accountability, and responsible driving.

Police Action and Legal Charges

Authorities have registered a case under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with rash and negligent driving that endangers human life.

Key legal provisions include:

  • Imprisonment of up to 6 months
  • Fine up to ₹1,000
  • Or both

The offence is cognisable and bailable, and the case is currently under investigation.

MLA Calls for Fair Investigation

MLA Pritam Lodhi stated that the law should take its course and urged authorities to ensure an impartial investigation.

Meanwhile, the presence of “Vidhayak” signage on the SUV has added to the controversy, raising questions about misuse of political influence.
