A man attacked his wife with a knife in Bhubaneswar’s Ishaneshwar slum under Chandrasekharpur police limits, leaving her critically injured.
Shyam Sundar Bishoi allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times on her neck and face after suspecting her of infidelity. The woman, employed at a private clinic, collapsed in a pool of blood. Neighbours rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her condition as critical.
Shyam and his wife have been married for 15 years and have two children. Frequent quarrels over alleged extramarital involvement strained their relationship. The couple began living separately, with Shyam residing in Shikharachandi and his wife in Ishaneshwar Basti. On Thursday, Shyam visited her residence, and an argument escalated into a violent attack.
The accused fled the scene immediately after the assault. Chandrasekharpur police registered a case based on the wife’s complaint and launched a manhunt to arrest him. Officers confirmed that further investigation is underway.
