Hockey India named a 24-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team squad for the upcoming Argentina tour scheduled from April 13 to 17, 2026, in Buenos Aires.
The four-match exposure tour will prepare the team for the FIH World Cup 2026 and Asian Games.
Captain Salima Tete leads the side with her midfield composure and dynamism. Forward Deepika returns after rehabilitation, reclaiming her role as India’s primary drag-flicker. Veteran goalkeeper Savita also rejoins the squad, strengthening India’s defence against Argentina’s attacking prowess.
Navneet Kaur, Baljeet Kaur, and Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke stand out as impact players, while young talents Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Ishika, and Sakshi Rana gain valuable international experience. Defender Jyoti and forward Mumtaz Khan also return, adding depth to the lineup.
Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne emphasised the importance of the tour, stating that it provides exposure for emerging players and allows testing of squad combinations against a strong opponent. He highlighted the need to build depth and prepare for upcoming global tournaments.
India will play four matches against Argentina on April 13, 14, 16, and 17. The squad composition reflects a balance of seasoned leaders and promising newcomers, showcasing the progress of Indian women’s hockey.
