Commissionerate Police successfully executed a targeted operation in Bhubaneswar’s Khandagiri area, leaving a notorious brown sugar peddler, Sheikh Jamshed, injured.
Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Special Crime Unit cornered the peddler, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Jamshed, known for his extensive involvement in drug trafficking, sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the encounter.
The police have seized brown sugar worth ₹20 lakh from the scene, which is expected to significantly disrupt the narcotics network operating in the region. Jamshed was rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where his condition is reported to be critical but stable.
Officials have revealed that Jamshed had been under surveillance for several months and is connected to multiple drug trafficking cases. This incident marks a critical step in Odisha’s ongoing fight against narcotics, following a spate of police encounters in recent weeks.
