The monsoon situation in Odisha remains mixed, with cumulative rainfall from June 1 to July 13 recorded at 348.2 mm, about 4% above the normal average of 334.4 mm.
While some districts have received excess rainfall, others continue to face deficit conditions.
Regional Meteorological Centre Director Dr Manorama Mohanty said the monsoon flow has now become active across the state. “After a spell of dry weather, Odisha will experience five days of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds. Several districts are likely to receive very heavy rain,” she noted.
In the past 24 hours, rainfall was negligible at 0.1 mm, 99% below normal. Bhadrak recorded the highest temperature at 39.5°C, while Boudh registered the lowest at 20.2°C.
Forecasts indicate heavy rainfall, lightning, and winds at 30–40 km/h in many districts. A red alert has been issued for Kandhamala, Gajapati, and Kendrapada, while coastal districts have been warned of humid and stormy conditions. Farmers have been advised to take precautions for paddy and other crops, and fishermen have been urged to check weather alerts before venturing into the sea.
