The Odisha Youth Janata Congress staged a vibrant protest at Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar, on Monday, voicing anger over unemployment, textbook errors, and alleged law‑and‑order lapses.
Hundreds of youth activists marched from Kharavel Nagar Ram Mandir Square to Lower PMG, carrying placards and banners while chanting slogans against the state government.
Protesters wore symbolic colour marks on their hands and lemon garlands around their necks, demanding attention to youth issues and alleged injustices in Sijimali. They accused the government of ignoring the future of Odisha’s youth and focusing only on publicity.
The demonstration caused temporary traffic disruption in the area, prompting police deployment to maintain order. The protest also drew attention amid shifting political equations in Kataka, where several BJD leaders have recently joined the BJP. Meanwhile, the newly formed Odisha Janata Congress has intensified its campaign against the government’s policies, sparking fresh debate in political circles.
Observers noted that Kataka, once the state’s political nerve centre, appears to be regaining its influence as new parties and youth movements emerge across Odisha.
