The Health & Family Welfare Department today brought together as many as 24 CSR heads from leading organizations to discuss their pivotal role in combating tuberculosis (TB) in Odisha.

The meeting focused on the important need for corporate social responsibility (CSR) support in adopting TB patients and their families under the Ni-kshay Mitra scheme, a key initiative of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA).

The main aim of the meeting was to rally corporate partners to contribute nutritional baskets for TB patients and their families, ensuring a comprehensive support system that improves treatment outcomes and prevents the further spread of the disease within households. The nutritional support was emphasized as a critical element in the fight against TB, directly contributing to both the recovery of patients and the protection of their families from potential infection. CSR support will be an important step towards achieving the goal of eliminating TB from India by 2025.

Leading organizations, including NALCO, HDFC Bank Ltd., Tata Steel Foundation, NLC India Ltd., Jindal Steel and Power, MCL, IOCL, Tata Steel Foundation, Sushruta Hospital & Trauma Care, Paradeep Phosphate Ltd., JSW Foundation, Hindalco Ltd, AM/NS India, AARTI Steel Ltd, AXIS Bank Ltd, Parklands Solar Pvt. Ltd., OMC and Waasol Energies Ltd participated the event.

As India takes strides toward a TB-free future, the partnership between the Health & Family Welfare Department and corporate entities through CSR channels remains instrumental in addressing the nutritional needs of TB patients, ensuring better care, and ultimately contributing to the eradication of TB from the state.
