With the upcoming festive season drawing close, the Odisha Police has announced a massive state-wide special campaign named ‘Daman’ to tighten the grip on criminals, habitual offenders, and anti-social elements, ensuring absolute peace and public safety across the state.
Scheduled to run from September 21, 2026, to September 30, 2026, the ten-day intensive drive will focus heavily on monitoring criminal activities, executing pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs), and taking strict preventive legal measures. Law enforcement agencies will launch coordinated raids and arrests against a wide range of illicit operations.
Major Focus Areas
The special campaign will maintain zero tolerance toward unlawful activities, placing a dedicated spotlight on:
-
Illicit Trade & Narcotics: Cracking down on illegal liquor manufacturing and distribution, alongside drug peddling.
-
Weapons and Explosives: Intercepting illegal arms and explosive trafficking syndicates.
-
Organised Crime: Taking aggressive legal action against forced extortion (Dadagiri) and organised criminal networks.
Coordinated Inter-Unit Enforcement
To block escape routes and prevent cross-border criminal movement, strategic checkpoint blocking and border sealing will be enforced in sensitive border zones. The campaign will operate through seamless coordination between district police forces, railway police, Commissionerate Police, and specialised police units.
Through the proactive ‘Daman’ initiative, the Odisha Police aims to preemptively curb crimes, neutralise threats, and guarantee a safe, secure, and harmonious environment for citizens throughout the festive period.
