Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested a person for attempting to snatch a gold chain from a lady at NALCO square in Bhubaneswar.
Reportedly, the incident took place while one Sarmistha Kar had gone to buy some medicines when two bike-borne miscreants reached the spot and snatched away the chain from her neck and sped away .
Following this, a private security guard chased them and caught hold on of the miscreants. However, his companion managed to escape. Later, locals thrashed the chain snatcher black and blue before handing him over to the police.
Police have taken the accused to the custody and further investigation is underway, sources said.
