Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell and his wife Vini Raman have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Maia Maxwell. The couple shared the happy news on social media on Tuesday, drawing warm wishes from fans and the cricket fraternity.
Maxwell and Raman announced the arrival of their daughter through a joint Instagram post, introducing her with the heartfelt caption, “our dream girl is here, Maia Maxwell.”
The announcement was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from fans, fellow cricketers and sports franchises.
Maxwell and Vini Raman become parents for the second time
Maia is the couple’s second child. Their first child, son Logan Maverick Maxwell, was born on September 11, 2023.
The arrival of their daughter marks another special milestone for Maxwell and Raman, who have been together for more than a decade.
The couple first met in December 2013 and initially became friends before their relationship began. They made their relationship official in 2017 and announced their engagement in February 2020.
Maxwell and Raman tied the knot on March 27, 2022, in Melbourne. Their wedding celebrations included both a Christian ceremony and a traditional Tamil Brahmin ceremony.
A new chapter for Glenn Maxwell
The birth of Maia comes as Maxwell enters a different phase of his cricket career.
The Australian all-rounder announced his retirement from ODI cricket in June 2025 after a 149-match career. He finished his ODI career with 3,990 runs and 77 wickets.
Maxwell was part of Australia’s World Cup-winning teams in 2015 and 2023. His extraordinary unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan in Mumbai during the 2023 World Cup remains one of the most memorable performances of his career.
Despite stepping away from ODIs, Maxwell continued his international career in T20 cricket, with Australia retaining his services for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
‘Our dream girl is here’
While Maxwell’s cricketing career has produced plenty of memorable moments, Tuesday’s announcement was focused firmly on family.
The couple’s simple announcement introducing Maia as their “dream girl” was met with an outpouring of love and congratulations online.
With Logan now becoming a big brother, the Maxwell family has grown to four, as Glenn Maxwell and Vini Raman begin a new chapter with their newborn daughter.
