The Odisha Higher Education Department has issued stringent instructions to all colleges and universities across the state to strengthen student safety, particularly for female students.
Acting on a communication from the Centre, the department has directed institutions to update details on the SHe‑Box (C‑Box) portal and strictly adhere to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
The directive mandates every institution to update information related to its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on the portal managed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The portal enables online submission of complaints, committee details, and resolution status.
Colleges have been asked to submit compliance reports to the Higher Education Department, ensuring prompt redressal of grievances and a safe campus environment. Regional Directors of Education have also been instructed to monitor updates from institutions under their jurisdiction.
