Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari stated on Thursday that Ganjam district has been severely impacted by current floods, with over 42,500 residents affected across 208 panchayats in 22 blocks and 56 wards across 18 urban areas.
Currently, 22 villages remain completely waterlogged.
Rescue operations are underway in the marooned regions. Although airlifting efforts via helicopters have been initiated, heavy cloud cover has temporarily delayed flight operations.
In response to the evolving situation, the state government has reinforced rescue teams on the ground, deploying 52 ODRAF, 5 NDRF, and 45 Fire Services teams.
Additionally, 16 government boats alongside 25 private boats are engaged in evacuation and relief distribution efforts.
Minister Pujari assured that the administrative machinery is continuously monitoring water levels and relief distribution to ensure essential supplies reach stranded populations promptly.
