Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday issued a nationwide call urging citizens, youth, and student groups to join the November 1 “Chalo Dilli Ramlila March.”
Describing the rally as a movement to protect the Constitution, save democracy, and stop alleged electoral roll irregularities, Gandhi assured supporters that they need not worry about police resistance or baton charges, claiming the ruling party lacks the political nerve to disrupt the event.
In a social media message published in Hindi and English, Gandhi emphasised that the demonstration transcends party lines and represents a collective effort to defend the nation’s democratic values.
Don’t worry about the police, don’t worry about lathis – the BJP will not have the guts to try any of their antics.
Come march with us – we will walk together to protect the Constitution, to protect the Indian nation.
घबराने की जरूरत नहीं है।
I urge all student groups, regardless of your political affiliation – if you feel that India is under attack, if you feel you are under attack, your expression, your ideas, your way of thinking is under attack, come and join us.
It will be a fantastic march, and it’s a march for the soul of this country.
Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

He invited all student organisations, regardless of political affiliation, to march together toward Ramlila Maidan to demand accountability over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
In response, Delhi Police have formulated elaborate security protocols around the 12-acre Ramlila Maidan, anticipating a gathering of 40,000 to 50,000 demonstrators. Nearly 3,000 personnel, equipped with body-worn cameras, alongside 150 AI-enabled CCTV feeds monitored from a temporary control room, will manage the event.
Authorities have secured designated entry and exit gates for VVIP movement, while strict barricading will prevent marchers from moving toward restricted zones such as Jantar Mantar and New Delhi areas.
