Netflix has released the first full trailer for its upcoming six-part limited series adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic 1813 romance novel, Pride and Prejudice.
Featuring Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet alongside Jack Lowden as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, the adaptation offers a fresh, modern perspective on Regency-era social expectations, family dynamics, and romantic misunderstandings.
A Closer Look at the Trailer
The preview opens with Elizabeth Bennet lying on the rooftop of Longbourn with her elder sister Jane (Freya Mavor), discussing the narrow options available to women of their era—choosing between life as a governess, remaining single, or marrying to secure a future.
Oscar winner Olivia Colman steps into the role of Mrs. Bennet, enthusiastically delivering Austen’s iconic opening line, “It is a truth universally acknowledged…” as she seeks wealthy suitors for her five daughters. Rufus Sewell portrays Mr. Bennet, observing the chaotic household with quiet detachment.
The trailer highlights the slow-burn chemistry between Corrin’s Elizabeth and Lowden’s Darcy, captured through lingering glances at candlelit ballrooms and quiet encounters at the piano.
The cast includes Jamie Demetriou as the socially awkward Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Elizabeth’s younger sisters are played by Hopey Parish (Mary), Hollie Avery (Kitty), and Rhea Norwood (Lydia).
A Modern Approach to a Classic Romance
Scripted by Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton and directed by Heartstopper helmer Euros Lyn, the six-episode adaptation aims to balance authentic Regency period details with contemporary emotional resonance.
Corrin, who also serves as an executive producer, noted that the series captures the “modernity and authenticity” of Austen’s social commentary. Lowden described the story as “joyous and romantic,” emphasizing its timeless appeal.
The full six-part limited series Pride and Prejudice is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on December 3, 2026.
