In yet another clash between Maoists and security forces in Chhattisgarh, five Maoists were killed during an encounter on Tuesday morning.
The gunfight, which began at around 8 AM, continued for a prolonged period at the border of Bijapur and Dantewada districts.
The encounter was part of a search operation launched by joint security teams based on intelligence reports regarding Maoist activities near the Indravati river banks. The Maoists opened unexpected fire upon sighting the security personnel, leading to a fierce exchange. Security forces responded decisively, killing five hardcore Maoists. Three bodies were recovered from the scene, and further search efforts are ongoing.
Witnessing the intensity of the security operation, Maoist cadres fled the spot, leaving behind arms and ammunition. This operation follows a similar encounter on March 20, when security forces killed 30 Maoists in the same region, marking a significant blow to Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh.
Prominent regions such as Gangulur forest and Kanker-Narayanpur areas have become focal points for anti-Maoist operations. Security forces have vowed to continue their efforts to curb Maoist insurgency in the state.
