Under India’s BRICS Chairship, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat, will host the BRICS Traditional and Indigenous Sports Demonstration Games 2026 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad on Oct 12, 2026.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, will officially inaugurate the event alongside Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse, and Gujarat Minister of State for Sports Dr Jayram Gamit.
Designed as a non-competitive, heritage-focused platform, the event aims to foster cultural exchange and document traditional sporting practices across BRICS member and partner nations. Delegations from 11 countries will showcase their indigenous sports.
Host nation India will present Mallakhamb, Yogasana, and Kalaripayattu, alongside international features such as China’s Wushu and Lion Dance, Brazil’s Capoeira and Zarabatana, Russia’s Sambo and Gorodki, Iran’s Zoorkhaneh, and Bolivia’s Lucha de Cholitas.
The event will also facilitate bilateral meetings on the sidelines to strengthen international cooperation in physical culture, sports heritage preservation, and indigenous game development.
By bringing together global practitioners and sporting icons, the Games aim to celebrate shared heritage while deepening people-to-people ties across the expanding BRICS alliance.
