Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today released two landmark coffee table books and inaugurated a modern physiotherapy centre at the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Celebrating Legislative Journey and Leadership
The books, “Presiding with Purpose – Two Years Legislative Journey of Speaker Surama Padhy” and “Two Years of Transformative Leadership Under Speaker Surama Padhy”, highlight the Assembly’s milestones under Speaker Surama Padhy’s stewardship. Majhi praised her leadership for digitising processes, passing impactful laws, and enriching Odisha’s parliamentary history.
He emphasised that the volumes capture historic events, including President Droupadi Murmu’s first address to the Assembly, national and international conferences, and training programs for legislators. He expressed confidence that the books will inspire students, researchers, and the wider public while elevating the Assembly’s prestige.
Physiotherapy Centre for Lawmakers
Majhi also inaugurated a physiotherapy centre within the Assembly premises, staffed by doctors and paramedics from Capital Hospital and NIRTAR. He noted that the facility will benefit legislators, former members, officials, and employees, especially senior ex-legislators.
Speaker Surama Padhy described the books as a visual record of two years of legislative activities, including national seminars, committee visits, and participation in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. She said the publications strengthen Odisha’s democratic identity and global recognition.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, government whips, legislators, Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout, and senior officials attended the event.
