Bhubaneswar: As the clock nears the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 (Bhubaneswar-Rourkela), India men’s hockey team arrived in Bhubaneswar.
Defender Harmanpreet Singh, who has been leading India since the later half of 2022, will continue to captain the national side at the upcoming FIH World Cup in Odisha.
Odisha defender Amit Rohidas will be Harmanpreet’s deputy, while PR Sreejesh will continue to guard the post in his fourth World Cup appearance — third on home soil.
The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 trophy made its way back to Odisha on Sunday after a successful nationwide tour. The trophy tour kicked off on December 5 with the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik presenting the trophy to Hockey India President, Dr. Dilip Tirkey in Bhubaneswar.
As the clock ticks down for the mega event, which will play out from January 13-29 at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, Indian fans are looking forward to it in much anticipation.
