Thousands of women who were previously excluded from the state government’s Subhadra scheme despite being eligible will soon begin receiving benefits, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Wednesday.

Speaking after a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, Parida said that several women beneficiaries were left out due to technical issues such as lack of ration cards, incomplete KYC details, or discrepancies in records.

“All these factors are being examined carefully to ensure that genuine beneficiaries are not deprived of financial support under the scheme,” Parida said.

Departments Asked to Verify Beneficiaries
Ahead of the meeting, the Women and Child Development Department sought detailed reports from three key departments — Commerce & Transport, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, and Health.

  • The Transport Department was directed to share records of women who own four-wheelers.

  • The Health Department was tasked with verifying the list of deceased beneficiaries to avoid duplication.

  • The Food Supplies Department was asked to cross-check land records of women who had sold paddy.

Beneficiaries to Be Added After Verification
Based on the reports submitted, the review meeting chaired by Parida discussed corrective measures to bring the left-out women under the Subhadra scheme.

“After proper verification of all reports, the deprived beneficiaries will be included in the scheme and start receiving assistance,” the Deputy CM assured.

The Subhadra scheme is one of the flagship welfare initiatives of the Odisha government aimed at empowering women through direct financial support.
