The Odisha Information Service Association (OISA) convened its Annual Function 2026 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan in Bhubaneswar today.
The event brought together OIS officers serving across subdivisions, districts, RDC headquarters, and state departmental ministries to deliberate on cadre strengthening and professional excellence.
A seminar titled “Public Relations in the Digital Age: Changing Responsibilities, Emerging Challenges and New Opportunities for Public Relations Officers” was organized alongside the event.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Sanjay Kumar Biswal, IAS, Director of the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, highlighted OISA’s vital role in fostering professional development. He assured full government support toward strengthening the cadre to enhance public service delivery. Ashok Kumar Beuria, Additional Secretary, I&PR Dept, attended as Guest of Honour.
Chief Speaker Prof. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director of IIMC Dhenkanal, emphasized the imperative for Public Relations Officers to adapt to digital communication, counter misinformation, and deploy innovative strategies to build public trust. The session commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of OISA President Sucheta Priyadarshini, General Secretary Pathani Rout, Advisor Santosh Kumar Das, and other key office-bearers.
In recognition of their dedicated service, retired OIS officers were felicitated, sharing valuable insights with serving members. During the post-lunch Annual General Body Meeting, members unanimously resolved to pursue timely promotions, structured capacity building, and regular training through sustained follow-up with the department.
The Association expressed formal gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for releasing the OISA souvenir, “Loka Sampark,” on October 9 during an orientation program on social media trends. The celebration concluded with cultural performances, including poetry recitations and mimicry, fostering camaraderie among participants.
