Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development Department of the Odisha Government issued a draft notification to amend the Odisha Municipal Rules 1994 for the election of Mayors of Municipal Corporations and Chairman of Municipalities by the people through direct voting.
Grievances in this regard can be lodged with the Department Secretary within a month.
As per existing norms, corporators elect the mayor of a municipal corporation while councilors of a municipality elect the chairman.
