Bhadrak: BJP candidate Suryavanshi Suraj Sthitaprajna filed his nomination on Tuesday for the Dhamnangar by-poll scheduled to be held on November 3. He is the son of Bishnu Sethi, the sitting MLA whose recent death necessitated the by-election.
The saffron party on Sunday announced Suryabanshi Suraj Sthitaprajna as its candidate for the Dhamnagar by-election. After the declaration, Suraj has already started campaigning.
The party has chosen him as the candidate seeing his talent and potential, said BJP State president Samir Mohanty on Monday.
Mohanty said Suraj would file his nominations on Tuesday.
He said the BJD Government, which is in power for last 23 long years, has failed to ensure the State’s development. It is beating the drum claiming the Modi Government’s schemes as its own. If the people of Dhamnagar ensure victory of Suraj, it would be a true tribute to late Bihnubhai, said Mohanty, who was in Dhamgar to launch the party’s campaigning for the by-poll.
The voting for Dhamnagar by-polls will be conducted between 7AM and 6 PM on November 3 and the counting of votes and announcement of results will be done on November 6.
Notably, The two-time MLA had breathed last on September 19 while undergoing treatment for kidney-related problems at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar.
