Bhubaneswar: The path of development in Odisha has been widened and it has been speeded up with the footprint of progress everywhere, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday.

Inaugurating a slew of projects worth Rs 488 crore in Padmapur of Bargarh district, Patnaik said that Odisha is moving on the path of development in every sphere- be it agriculture, women empowerment, 5-T school transformation or health care.

He said that Padmapur has added another chapter to the development. The projects inaugurated today would help take the area to new height, he pointed out.

“Development is our identity. The State government is working tirelessly to empower women, youths and farmers,” he said.

Describing Padmapur as the rice bowl of Odisha, Patnaik said that the area is the largest contributor of rice to the state.

Many farmers in the district are yet to receive crop insurance benefit as Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a centrally-sponsored scheme. “I am in constant touch with the Government of India to help you get the benefit of crop insurance,” Patnaik maintained.

The CM inaugurated 20 mega lift irrigation projects constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore. He also initiated the work for the construction of an agriculture market.

On the occasion, Patnaik also performed the ground breaking ceremony of 25 roads and 38 bridges along with rural infrastructure project worth Rs 9 crore, four rural mandis and 16 urban infrastructure projects of Rs 4.22 crore.

He assured to allocate Rs 26 crore for the peripheral development of Nrushinganath and Veda Baraha shrines in the district.

He said that 30 schools have been transformed under 5-T model while work has begun for the transformation of more 44 schools in the district.

Some other welfare projects which were inaugurated today include 20 Kalyan Mandaps along with panchayat Bhawan, rural mandis and common facility centers.
