The Delhi High Court declined to grant interim relief to the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) regarding its appeal against a single judge’s order to revise the CLAT-2025 results due to inaccuracies in the answer key.
A bench led by Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela found no clear error in the decision made by the single judge.
The bench noted that the single judge had thoroughly reviewed two questions from the examination and determined that there were mistakes in the answer key. The court stated, “Prima facie, we agree with the single judge’s assessment. You may proceed with the results. There is no interim order.”
The bench clarified that the consortium could release the results in line with the single judge’s ruling and scheduled the matter for further hearing on January 7, 2025.
The single judge’s ruling on December 20 was in response to a petition from a CLAT candidate who challenged the answer key published on December 7, requesting corrections for certain questions in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The single judge identified incorrect answers to two questions and instructed the consortium to update the results accordingly, emphasizing that ignoring these errors would lead to unfairness. Despite seeking a stay on the single judge’s decision, the consortium was denied relief by the division bench at this time.
